Wisconsin Group Acquires Direct Mail Division of Berkshire Hathaway

Macromark has covered news on acquisitions of direct mail companies in past articles, and here is another major one. The Nebraska-based World Marketing Group Inc., which specializes in direct mail marketing and was previously a part of the Berkshire Hathaway portfolio, has been acquired by Wisconsin businessman Robert Kraft.

With over 100 years of combined direct mail marketing experience and a stronger focus in supporting and growing the World Marketing brand, Kraft and his associates were the perfect investors to take over the company from Berkshire Hathaway, who admittedly were headed towards a different focus.

World Marketing Group Inc. brings a long list of top clients of their own, including Kraft Foods, American Airlines, and Blue Cross Blue Shield, as well as their handling of over one billion pieces of mail each year.

A lot can be made of this transaction, but what it signifies to us at Macromark is that despite the impressive body of work achieved by World Marketing Group in the 40 years they’ve been in the direct mail business, Kraft still feels there’s room to grow that facet of the company and for World Marketing to expand the operations of Kraft’s company in Wisconsin.

The value of a targeted direct mail campaign cannot be underestimated. With companies positioning themselves to maximize their use of direct mail marketing, the value of a strategic campaign will continue to increase.
